Natalie & Tyler
Our honeymoon in Bali was truly sensational. We would highly recommend it to lovebirds desiring a tropical getaway offering both adventure and relaxation. To quote Natalie’s journal: Bali is such a unique and beautiful place. Everywhere, the foliage in bright shades of green covers the hillsides. The air smells musty and hot infused with sweet scents of flowers. People smile everywhere you go. They are extremely friendly and generous with their dispositions. Kites in all shapes and sizes color the sky. Geckos scurry across every warung wall, tiny ants line every restaurant table, and dogs nap in the shade on the streets. They are all saying, “Yes, I live in the land of tradition and prayer, laughter and late nights, incense and rice. I live in paradise."

Destination: National Parks Getaway
We had three months. We had the fall. So we decided to load our gear up in the Jeep and take a road trip. It was going to be a magical experience! First across the plains to Glacier, then up and over the North Cascades before shooting down the Pacific Coast and zig-zagging our way up through the canyonlands of the Southwest towards home in Wisconsin. We climbed mountains, descended canyons, encountered black bears, defended our breakfast from curious mountain goats, and spent afternoons watching seals and sea lions play in ocean currents. We lived, loved, and explored in both sickness and health, creating a home within each other, rather than one tied to any formal address.
Cynthia & Christopher
When my husband and I talked about where we wanted to honeymoon, it only took a second before we simultaneously blurted out, “Hawaii!” Since the very moment we started dating (a mere five years ago), we’ve been travelers at heart. We’d spent a lot of our vacation time off work visiting family & friends wherever they may have lived. If we weren’t able to leave our hometown, then we made sure our gas tank was full so we could discover what was in our own backyard.
Kate & Craig
Destination: United Kingdom, Italy, & Greece
Helen Keller said that life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. I couldn’t agree more and when I met Craig, I knew I’d found a kindred spirit. Two months after we met, I started an intense two-year Master’s program at Pepperdine. Six months later, I made a major job change. Five months after that, we got engaged and started planning our magical wedding which was in Scottsdale, AZ in April 2012. The next month, we bought our first house and in August I graduated from Pepperdine. So how could we top these adventures? Well, the best honeymoon ever, of course!
Megan & Adi
Destination: France, Croatia, Italy, & Norway
After six years together, Adi finally popped the question while we were on a gorgeous hike in Alaska. The next day, we talked about possible wedding dates. Megan, a school teacher in Southern California, looked forward to a summer wedding since she would have more time while off work. Adi, originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, dreamed of a honeymoon that included visiting his hometown of Mostar and several family members overseas. With only his two-week vacation time, this simply was not possible. We decided to quit our jobs, move our things into storage, get married, and then travel around Europe for seven weeks. Oh, and upon our return we would move to Northern California and find new jobs. Needless to say, our parents were skeptical!

In registering with Traveler’s Joy, we opted for memories in lieu of material gifts, and what a wonderful decision it was. If you don’t need more “stuff", Traveler’s Joy is for you. If passive travel is just not your style, Jerome is for you. Our honeymoon was full of adventure, life-enriching experiences, learning, great food, funny stories, and most of all, the handful of people that embraced us as part of their community for the week we were there. Jerome is a special place, full of special people. This rugged mountain town changed us, made us more intuitive, more adventurous, more receptive to shared experiences, and, we believe, set the tone for our marriage. We are looking forward to many anniversary trips, maybe even family vacations there in the future. Who knows? Perhaps one day, if we should be so fortunate, we will call it home. For good.

Destination: Key West
We realize that many honeymooners will have wild and crazy stories about faraway exotic trips that cost a lot of money. But for us, the heart and core of a honeymoon is that it doesn't matter how far away you go, or how much you spend, but rather the quality time you share with a loved one doing things that make you both smile. That's exactly what our trip to Key West was.
Emily & James
Destination: Historic Pennsylvania
When planning our honeymoon, we wanted to pick a location that would be within our wedding budget, easy to travel to, and still be an experience to treasure. This turned out to be pretty easy for two historians who work in museums and love American history.
Caitlin & David
Destination: Ireland & France
Staring at the dolmen, I am struck by a sense of deep and disorienting connectivity. This is why we wanted to come to Ireland in the first place: to feel a sense of connection, unbound by time, to the people who walked this earth before us. The feeling is difficult to find in America, where everything of historical significance is so very young by comparison, and where most sites are pristinely kept and reconstructed, turned into tourist attractions with visitor’s centers and gift shops. Not so in Ireland.
