Destination: Italy (Sicily)One week into our honeymoon, we ferried off on a midnight voyage to Sicily. We instantly fell in love with the entire city of Catania and wished we could have stayed longer. Days were spent wandering through narrow alleys and cobblestone streets amidst honking cars, bustling markets and barreling buses. We stayed at a quaint hotel where the charming concierge was more than willing to make a restaurant recommendation (his friend's restaurant), call a cab (his friend's cab) and arrange a tour (his friend's bus). |

Destination: Jackson Hole, WyomingFor Christmas Eve, we had scheduled a couples' spa treatment with massages, which is just what the proverbial doctor had ordered (and I bet if I had seen a real doctor, he would've said the same thing). Our original itinerary included snow tubing on Monday, snowboarding on Tuesday, and then getting all those muscles worked on and relaxed with the massages. Regardless of missing out on those activities, our bodies appreciated the pampering in light of everything that we had been through.

Destination: IrelandOur favorite things were getting lost, which we did a lot of, but finding some of the most amazing old ruins and seeing the rural areas of Ireland make it all worth while. And getting to see in person all of the beautiful old places I have seen in pictures only.

Destination: Plymouth, CaliforniaYou might think Plymouth sounds boring, but we had the most fantastic time. Plymouth is a little known town in the center of the Shenandoah Wine Country east of Sacramento. We chose this quaint spot because of its unique small town charm. We didn't have tons of money or time, and we wanted that hometown attention to detail. We stayed at the Plymouth House Inn right in the center of town. We splurged on the best room they had, the Carousel Room, which had its own private hot tub and balcony attached. |

Destination: New ZealandIf you love adventure then New Zealand is the place to be! We had a dream of taking our honeymoon in New Zealand and while we had no idea how we were going to pay for it we knew we had to make it happen. We wanted to pick a place that neither of us have been to and could have some exciting adventures as well and New Zealand is the perfect choice! Luckily we found out about Traveler's Joy and they helped our dream come true! We spent 12 adventure packed days in New Zealand seeing both the North and South Islands. |

Destination: FijiPlanning our honeymoon wasn't as easy as we thought it would be. We both wanted to go somewhere that neither of us had been... someplace warm... someplace quiet... with a beach where we could just relax and unwind from the stress of the wedding. Bora Bora was at the top of our list and we wanted to stay in an over water bungalow. But the reality of the expense hit us. Strike one! There was no way we could afford to spend a week there. After talking to my travel agent friend, she suggested Fiji. She said it was similar in beauty, a bit off the beaten path, and less expensive. |

Destination: ThailandIf it wasn't for Travelers Joy, we might have never gone on our honeymoon at all.

Destination: ThailandLanding in Thailand, we wanted to first spend a couple days in the capitol city, Bangkok. Though neither of us are city folk, there are parts of Bangkok which are "must-sees". Here, we stayed at the Rembrandt hotel. A co-worker with international connections set us up with a driver who served as our tour guide for the next two days. We visited the Grand Palace, the emerald Buddah, and a variety of sacred Wats, including Wat Pho which is the home to the world's largest reclining Buddah. Immersing ourselves in the culture of Bangkok, we found these sites absolutely glorious. We also enjoyed the culinary culture of the city, dining at the famous Seafood Market where we handpicked our fresh seafood selections before they were prepared for us. |

Destination: Park City, UtahWe spent the first full day of our trip exploring Park City. The town has much to offer by way of shopping and restaurants, most of which are centered around Main Street. Everything is easily accessible via the free bus system that picked us up in front of our hotel. We explored the numerous natural jewelry and furniture stores, and ate pizza that could rival New York City's. It was a great way to start our trip and get used to our surroundings. That evening, we rode a horse-drawn slay up the ski mountain. They dropped us off at a Western-themed lodge on the side of the mountain, where they served dinner and played country music. The fish had been caught that day and was fantastic! |

Destination: TahitiWe couldn't believe our eyes on how blue the water was on our drive to the hotel. The island was very green and the water was the most beautiful shade of turquoise. It was like nothing we had ever seen before. Those magazine pictures really don't do it justice. After a very scenic 45 minute drive, we finally arrived at our hotel and checked in to a spacious garden bungalow which had champagne chilled and a decoration of flowers waiting for us. |

Destination: Costa RicaLuckily choosing our destination was effortless. We both knew we wanted to go somewhere neither of us had been. Some place exotic and full of outdoor adventure. Due to the countries lush tropical beauty and eco friendly attitude we chose Costa Rica as the ideal place to spend our honeymoon, and it was perfect! |

Destination: JamaicaAs soon as you step off of the airplane in Jamaica you can feel that nice, hot weather hitting you. After going through customs the local resorts offer separate lounges within the airport where the guests can relax while waiting for the provided transportation. There are couches, tables, drinks, and they hold your luggage for you to the side. |

Destination: Hawaii (Maui)We at first tossed around the idea of going to Italy or Thailand or Peru for our honeymoon, but after we gave it thought...we agreed that we wanted to give ourselves a much deserved break instead of running around a foreign country. We wanted to honeymoon on the island of Maui, Hawaii because of its beauty and grandeur as well as the opportunity it provides for relaxation-something we thought we would need after all of the stress of traveling across the country to get married. |

Destination: Hawaii (Kauai & Maui)With all the stressful planning of the wedding, a honeymoon retreat was more than necessary. We really wanted the chance to romantically bond together, relax, and have some fun in a beautiful place. For our honeymoon we chose to go to the beautiful Hawaiian islands of Kauai and Maui. |

Destination: ItalyBy the end of the first day of our Italian honeymoon, I knew I had to take time each day to write about our experiences. I wanted to remember every piece of artwork, every ancient ruin, and every bite of our trip. I apologize ahead of time for my overly food-focused writing, but the meals were really THAT good. Our interest in Italian regional cooking grew immensely as we traveled and, since we've been home, we have recreated more than a few of the dishes. But no matter how good they come out, without fail we end up dreaming of returning to Italy soon... |
