Hello everyone!
First, please let us thank you for sharing our special day with us. Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift! We're immensely grateful for all the miles traveled and arrangements made to attend our wedding!
As many of you know, we're both avid cooks; and our kitchens reflect the years of collected cooking gadgets, pots, and cutlery, etc. Being blessed with most of the household goodies that a newly married couple needs, we hope you'll help us "invest in memories" and enhance our honeymoon with incredible culinary experiences and adventures.
We'll start off our trip in Reykjavik, Iceland. That's right, Iceland, the land of the Vikings. Although it's fairly safe to say that most Icelandic "cuisine" is probably based on a dare, there are some culinary gems to be found....courtesy of some curious wayward local chefs and, of course, immigration. Plus, we've heard that the landscape is the real draw. Blue Lagoons, geothermal pools, waterfalls, and volcanic beaches ... we're in.
Following our stint in Viking land, we're returning to Bruges, Belgium, a place we both hold dear. We breezed through Bruges on our European trip two years ago and fell in love ... both with each other and the "Venice of the North." Our first stay was too short and so we're headed back to give it justice- complete with the captivating canals, incredible chocolates, bicycle picnic excursions, the best beer in the world, and of course .... les frites. They even have a museum devoted to French Fries (avec mayonnaise of course!).
From Bruges, we'll head south on the train, our favorite mode of transport, to explore the Alsace-Lorraine region of France. Starting in Strasbourg, we'll explore the captivating city and the start of the Route des Vins, the region's premier wine-growing valley. Although it can easily be argued that anywhere in France is the place for enophiles, Alsace-Lorraine is certainly among the top destinations. Sandwiched between France and Germany, the region has incorporated the best of both worlds. Choucroute and Gewurtztraminer are a magical pair any day of the week. Rolling hills of picturesque vineyards, chateaux, and Hansel & Gretel-esque villages follow along the Route des Vins; and will be following suit, stopping along the way in Colmar and Riquewhir.
We'll return to Boston via Paris & Reykjavik, ready to welcome our new life together.
Love,
Alexis & Brian
