Hello Family and Friends!
First off, we'd like to say that your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. The time, effort, and expense of traveling to be with us is something we deeply appreciate in our hearts, and we are so thrilled that we will be able to celebrate this happy occasion with you.
As we sat down to work on our registry, we knew that a traditional registry wasn't right for us. After living together for some time, we have already collected all of the household items we need and more. What the two of us enjoy most of all is creating memorable experiences together.
With that in mind, we could not think of a more fitting gift than the gift of travel. We are passionate about seeing the world and exploring new places. Over the past 4 years, we've been able to share many experiences all over the world together such as Mexico, Portugal, Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, France, Greece, Italy and more. There's so many more places we can't wait to explore, but one place in particular is at the top of our list.
Since the day our relationship began, Michael has talked about the family vacation he took as a child to Africa. He was only 5 and had a mullet back then, but he's always said it would be a dream of his for us to go experience it together (just without the mullet, probably). After much conversation on where we should spend our celebration of marriage at, we both decided why not take the trip we have always talked about for our honeymoon.
We are currently working with Africa Adventure Consultants, a local travel agency here in Denver that specializes in African travel. We plan to start our adventure in Tanzania at a safari camp. Everyone knows we love a good camping trip. This is where we will experience wildlife up close in the Serengeti National Park and Tarangire National Park. Both are in the Northwestern part of the country with a great chance of seeing the big 5 - Elephants, Leopards, Buffalos, Lions, and Rhinos. This is also where we will get to catch the tail-end of the annual Wildebeest Migration as they make their way through the Serengeti... 'Rest in peace, Mufasa'
From there, we will end our trip on the pristine beaches of Zanzibar. This is a group of islands off the coast of East Africa with beautiful turquoise beaches and tons of history and culture.
This will be a dream way to celebrate the start of our married life together and something we will treasure forever.
With Love,
Michael and Lauren
We're going to Tanzania!
We have the itinerary for our honeymoon booked and are excited to share with you! We'll be flying into Kilimanjaro and spending our first night at the Hamerkop House by Lemala in Arusha relaxing and heading to our first lodge in the morning for the safari portion of our trip. Our first stop will be 3 nights at Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge in Tarangire National Park. After this, we'll be heading over to another Lemala property - Kuria Hills Lodge in the Northern Serengeti. We'll be spending 3 nights here exploring Serengeti National Park. After our 6 nights in the bush, we catch a flight from the Kogatende Airstrip to Zanzibar for some rest and relaxation at the Zawadi Hotel for 7 nights.
