Hello family and friends!

We hope you are visiting this website because you are planning to join us in San Francisco's Japantown on October 11, 2008. Thank you for helping us celebrate our special day!

In addition to registering for more traditional gifts, we've also decided to register for memories. Although a bit non-traditional, we hope you will take pleasure in knowing you're helping us celebrate our honeymoon eating gelato, traveling through Europe by train, hiking along the Italian coast, and perusing museums in Florence.

Thanks again for visiting and we can't wait to see you soon!

- Naomi and Rich

We're going to France and Italy!

There are so many places that we want to travel to and discover throughout our lifetime. For us, one of those places is Italy. Not just the big cities, like Florence and Rome, but the coastline of the Cinque Terra and the serenity of little hill towns in Tuscany. This will be Rich's first time in Europe, and it will be Naomi's first time in Italy. We are so excited about spending this time relaxing, eating, and exploring together!

Our trip will begin in Paris, where we're hoping to spend three days visiting the Louvre, people-watching from sidewalk cafes, and pretending to speak French. We'll then continue to Nice, where Naomi will attend a conference for work (tough life, I know!) while Rich relaxes for a few days. After the conference, we will continue down the western coast of Italy for two weeks!

We'll be heading to Cinque Terra, where (weather permitting) we will spend a couple of days hiking and taking in the scenery. Next, we head to Florence to visit historic sites, take in some art, and find our way through more "non-touristy" areas: open air food markets, small family run restaurants, and other hidden gems. We will continue by train to Siena, our base for discovering the vineyards and hill towns of Tuscany. Finally, we will conclude our once-in-a-lifetime trip in Rome, where we'll spend a few days trying to go where the locals go and do as the Romans do!

Then, it's back home to the Bay Area and the dogs!

Rich loves art, so we can't go to Paris without visiting the Louvre. 2 tickets for full-day access to the galleries would be a real treat.

Ok, Nice was nice. Now it's time to kick off our honeymoon in Italy. A 7 hour ride from Nice and we'll be in Firenze (Florence)! yay!

We'll need some wheels to tour the Tuscan country side and since we probably can't fit our luggage on a motorbike - a 4 wheel rental will have to do!

What's a honeymoon without some pampering? A three night's stay at a good hotel in Florence will be a good marker for the midpoint of our honeymoon!

Since Florence has so many things to see and do, we'll need a guide to get the most out of it in a short amount of time

A Florence must see - the Uffizi Gallery with paintings by Giotto, Leonardo, Raphael, Caravaggio, and many many more!
Gift Fulfilled
A half day's cooking class in the Tuscan hills - maybe this will make Rich a little more useful in the kitchen! One can hope!

It's not a Hyatt, it's not a Hilton, and that's exactly the point! Agriturismo's are local family owned bed & breakfast style places - low key and usually the money goes back into the community.

A walking tour through the Eternal City would be a good way to see the best Roma has to offer!
