Hey everyone!

Thanks for visiting our honeymoon registry. We can't wait to see you all in sunny Florida this April for the wedding! It will be absolutely amazing to have our friends and family in one place to share in this once in a lifetime event. We especially appreciate all those who plan to travel from afar to attend. For all those unable to make the journey, we know you will be with us in spirit.

So, you might be asking yourself, why a honeymoon registry? Since we have lived together in sin for nearly the last two years, we have already accumulated most of the houseware, linens, and cleaning supplies that we need. With that in mind, together we decided (read: Phil whined until he got his way) to register for something that will last a lifetime. The memories from an unbelievable Asian honeymoon will be a fantastic foundation from which to launch our new life together. Hopefully you will agree!

Anyway, thanks again for visiting the registry, and we hope to see you in April!

We're going to Taiwan and Thailand!

ASIAN ADVENTURE!!!

This will be our first trip overseas together and we absolutely could not be more excited!

Our honeymoon will begin with a 28-hour “jaunt” from Tampa to Taipei (including an exciting 6 hour layover in LAX). While in Taiwan, we plan to visit with members of Phil’s extended family that could not make the trip to Florida. We will begin by staying in Ilan, a city in Northeastern Taiwan. We will explore the famous night markets, and Nancy is extremely 'excited' to sample Taiwan’s national dish: ‘stinky tofu’. From Ilan, we will make our way to visit Phil’s grandfather in Nanou, a small mountain town. The rest of our time in Taiwan will be spent in Kaohsiung, a burgeoning seaside city in the south.

After a week of visiting relatives and adjusting to the time difference, we will depart for the second leg of our journey in Thailand. Deciding where to spend our six days was a difficult task. We ended up picking Phuket, a small island province in the Andaman Sea. Here we will relax in style, enjoying the wonderful food, friendly people, and overall euphoria of being on our honeymoon. We will be staying at Mom Tri’s Villa Royale, a boutique hotel located on a rocky cliff overlooking Kata Noi beach. This hotel is a Phuket institution, renowned for its amazing restaurant and personal service. With only 18 rooms in all, we will certainly feel like we have escaped into our own private paradise. We have planned several activities that should not be missed when in Phuket, including sailing, sea kayaking, elephant riding, and visiting with the ladyboys. All in all it should be an unbelievable experience and we will surely contemplate ‘missing’ our flight back and taking up permanent roots in Thailand.

Below are links to some of the exciting things we plan on doing:

To get from Kaohsiung back to Taipei, we'll be taking the new bullet train. Instead of spending upwards of 7 hours on the train, the trip will be done in less than 2 hours.

Oh the Thai massage, a staple of any trip to Phuket. Though the ending may not be as happy as those found in seedier locales, a 2 hour couple's massage will no doubt set the stage for the most perfect honeymoon.

A day on the beach? The most necessary accessory... booze.

No trip to Thailand would be complete without going on an elephant trek through the jungle.

After a late night out, there's no better or safer way home than the Thai tuk tuks... 2 parts taxi, 1 part rickshaw, tuk tuks represent a quintessentially Thai form of transportation.

In addition to spa or in-room massages, Thailand is renowned for its relaxing beach massueses. What can be better than enjoying the crashing waves while having those knots rubbed out?

Okay, in addition to the street food and stinky tofu we will eat in restaurants as well. Phuket is known for its wonderful seafood, none better than the floating restaurant.

So why go to Thailand? The beaches, the food, the people, and... the mini-golf. Apparently one of the more fun experiences in Phuket is hitting the links for a round of putt putt in a Flinstones/Dinosaur themed mini-golf course. I'm not kidding.

On the rare nights we avoid debauchery and stay in, we will enjoy an incredible meal at the distinguished hotel restaurant. Mom Tri's Kitchen offers haute cuisine to go along with amazing views.
