Hi everyone!
We want to start by saying your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. The time, effort, and expense of traveling to be with us is something we deeply appreciate, and we are so thrilled to be able to celebrate this happy occasion with you.
Living in Shanghai, it is nearly impossible for us to do a traditional wedding registry; shipping goods to China is fairly complicated, and we have limited room in our luggage flying home after the wedding. If you are considering a gift, we would be honored if you would contribute to our honeymoon fund. While we have been very lucky to have taken many exciting trips together, we are looking forward to our first real trip as a married couple. Your generosity will help us create unforgettable memories and start our lives together on an incredible adventure. We greatly appreciate and will fondly remember these gifts for years to come.
We'll do our best to document our experiences and look forward to sharing our memories with you.
Thanks again, and we can't wait to see you at the wedding!
With love,
Madison & Michael
We're going to Argentina and Antarctica!
We will start by taking a long flight from Shanghai down to Buenos Aires, Argentina. From there, we hop on another plane down to Ushuaia, where we will board the MS Fridtjof Nansen and begin our adventure!
For the first two days, we will be sailing across the infamous Drake Passage, which will give us plenty of time to visit the onboard science center, attend lectures provided by the expert expedition team, and discover the Citizen Science projects we can join.
Then, we will spend the next five days in Antarctica, going ashore for various excursions and learning more about this land of immense, frozen beauty. As we will be visiting in February, we should be in peak whale watching season, as well as being just in time to see all of the baby penguins who have just hatched in December and January!
Then it's back across the Drake Passage again and back to Buenos Aires. We will spend another few days in Buenos Aires, touring the city and getting to know the local culture, before flying back to Shanghai and heading back to school!
We are especially excited to be traveling with Hurtigruten and HX Expeditions because of their focus on science, learning, and environmentally-conscious travel. With the most extensive science program in the industry, they bring learning into the heart of their ships, providing daily scientific lectures and opportunities to assist in actual scientific research while onboard. Additionally, the MS Fridtjof Nansen's use of electric propulsion and advanced construction is expected to cut fuel consumption and CO2-emissions by 20%. Hybrid technology will also allow for periods of silent cruising, creating an atmosphere in which we will be able to completely immerse ourselves in the Antarctic surroundings. We are excited to travel with a company that has dedicated itself to so many environmental, cultural, and social projects across the world.
(No, we weren't paid to say any of that. We just really like this traveling with this company are excited to talk about it.)
