Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for being a part of our special day. The time, effort, and expense of traveling to be with us is something we deeply appreciate, and getting to spend this day with you is truly a gift.
As we have been living together for a while, we already have a lot of the "essential" home items a newlywed couple needs. Additionally, after spending the last year quarantined in our home, we've filled every cabinet, drawer, and closet to the brim. In lieu of adding more stuff to our already crowded apartment, we'd love for you to help us make our dream honeymoon a reality.
[That said, we have also registered for home goods. If you would like to give us a traditional gift, head to https://www.crateandbarrel.com/gift-registry/anne-estey/r6266413 for our registry there!]
We were supposed to take a trip to Japan in March 2020, but we were unable to do so due to the pandemic. We have been dreaming of and planning this honeymoon trip ever since and are so happy to have the opportunity to take three weeks to travel and experience Japan. This will be our first international trip together and we are so excited to kick off our married life in such an incredible location.
Thank you again for taking the time to be with us on our wedding day. We can't wait to see you there-- and hopefully sooner!
Anne & Matt
We're going to Japan!
We will begin our three-week trip with a night in Tokyo before heading north to Shibu Onsen to soak in the hot springs and spend time with the snow monkeys. We will be staying in a ryokan, which will enable us to get a taste of traditional Japanese living.
After two days in Shibu Onsen, we will head back to Tokyo for ten days of exploration. We plan on visiting shrines and temples throughout the city, bar hopping our way through as many izakaya as we can find, and trying to not get lost in the city's massive subway system. We will also be taking a day trip north to Nikko, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to over one hundred shrines and temples.
Kyoto is the next stop on our trip and will serve as our hub as we explore many different cities in the area over the course of eight days. We are very grateful for the Shinkansen (bullet train), as it will enable us to see so many cities for day trips. We will spend two days in Osaka eating and drinking our way through the many neighborhoods of this giant city. Our one day in Nara will be spent wandering through temples and feeding the adorable wild deer that populate the area. And our farthest trip will be to Hiroshima, where we will visit the Peace Park and learn more about how the city has rebuilt over the past seventy-five years.
Finally, we will head back to Tokyo for two final days of exploration and indulgence. We are so excited to take this incredible trip, and we are grateful to you for helping us make our dream a reality!
