Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting our honeymoon travel registry!
Out of the many things Richard and I have in common, the biggest one is probably our love of travel and adventure. There's something so rewarding about sharing an experience together that will live in our memory for years to come. Creating our own adventures together strengthens our bond as a couple more than china patterns or place settings, and we can't think of a better way to do this than hitting the road (or flying the friendly skies) bound for our next destination.
These past few years together have been the happiest and most fulfilling of our lives. We can't wait to start our life together as "Mr. and Mrs." in sunny Mexico! Thank you so much for helping us take this unforgettable trip together.
We're going to Playa Del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico!
Richard and I went to Playa Del Carmen in November 2007 and fell in love with it. There's so much to do; the people and warm Mexican culture is truly fantastic. We chose to go back for our honeymoon and revisit the places we love so much, and make room for some new adventures too. This time around, we want to charter a boat and snorkel, get a Jeep and explore small towns, rent ATVs on Cozumel and feast on fresh Mexican seafood. We are counting the days!
Playa Del Carmen is located on the Mayan Riviera of Mexico – the Eastern coastline of Mexico, about 45 minutes south of Cancun. Not quite as "touristy" as Cancun and a little more rustic, it's the perfect spot for doing whatever you want to do, whether it be relaxing on the beach or finding an adventure. You can hop a ferry and be in Cozumel (some of the best snorkeling and scuba in the world) in about 30 minutes. The ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum are also about a 30 minute drive. Playa is filled with great little mom and pop shops, restaurants and gorgeous beaches. We really treasure getting off of the beaten bath and experiencing the true culture of a place.
We are staying at Hotel La Tortuga right off of Avenida Quinta (5th Avenue). It's a great location, right in the heart of Playa, yet a quiet, lush oasis for when you just want a little downtime. This is not an "all-inclusive" mega chain resort. It's a small place, immaculately clean and amazingly friendly. (And the pool is so pretty!) You can check it out at: http://www.hotellatortuga.com/.
