Allison & Grant

November 26, 2011

Hi everyone!

First off, we'd like to say that your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. Whether you're flying in from out of state, or walking from your home a few blocks away, we are so thrilled that we will be able to celebrate this happy occasion with you.

Since we have been living together the past two or three years, we are lucky to have a lot of the "essential" home items a newly engaged couple needs. We hope you find this registry as a way to help us make our perfect honeymoon come true! While Grant and I have taken many trips together (Seattle/Vancouver, Arizona, Disneyworld, Arkansas) and have traveled abroad individually, we are very much looking forward to our first real adventure as husband and wife. It is because of the lifetime of memories we will gain from this trip that we finally settled on a honeymoon registry. We greatly appreciate and will fondly remember these gifts for years to come. After all, the memories from this honeymoon will last a lot longer than a new tablecloth, and we like the idea of knowing we're going abroad not only to do some good for the planet, but as a direct result of the love and support of our friends and families.

Plus, if you were to get us a new tablecloth, it's almost guaranteed that we'd stain it the first week. :)

We'll do our best to document our experience via photo and include it in your much-deserved "thank you" note.

Thanks again and we can't wait to see you at the wedding (or earlier!).

Love,
Grant and Allison

We're going to Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia!

After a looooong flight to Australia, we will land ourselves in Coffs Harbor, ready to head west to do some research. In the forests of New South Wales (the southeastern province of Oz) we will search for, identify and measure frogs in order to see how amphibian populations are doing in this part of the world. We don't know how many sites we'll be at, but we're hoping for good wildlife spotting, and fruitful research excursions!

After we're mentally and physically done with hunting for frogs and sleeping in tents, its off to Sydney! Here, we'll visit museums, tour the opera house, and climb to the very top of the Harbor Bridge. We also plan to spend many days walking through the varied neighborhoods of this amazing city. Also looking forward to the Asian-inspired cuisine we expect to find there, and Grant might be able to convince Allison to try a beer or two in a local boozer (aka pub).

From Sydney we hope to head North to Mon Repos Conservation Park to observe hatchling turtles. Can we say "adorable"? Definitely next on the list is Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. I'm not sure we'll be able to top that experience, but if we do it will be at the Daintree Rainforest, a world heritage site and considered a "must" for northern Oz visitors. Throughout this whole last leg of the trip, we'll be staying in a spa/resort, so we will probably grab a massage or two after so much hiking, climbing, walking, swimming. Its exhausting to think about, but also SO exciting to look forward to!

From Cairns we make the, again, looooong trip home. We'll be tired and tanner, but man will we have stories to tell and memories to keep!

Are you an airport impulse buyer? So are we (er, so is Allison). Help her buy a package of Twizzlers or a caramel latte, or a paperback she certainly doesn't need! Or, buy Grant some peanuts. Because seriously, he eats them all the time.
