July 2, 2011

Bonjour!

We are so thrilled that the big day is approaching and couldn't be happier to have so many of you celebrate with us.

From Egypt to Romania and Mammoth Lakes, we love to travel, so we had to ponder deeply about our post-nuptial trip. At long last, we decided to venture to Paris, Burgundy, and the Rhone Valley. What it all boiled down to is how we wanted to spend our first weeks of marriage. Eating, wine-tasting, and wandering around France seems like the perfect fit.

We hope to see you all on July 2nd!

Love,

Dan and Jodi

Fine Dining in Paris - Le Cinq? Taillevent? It's a toss up. Your gift will allow us to enjoy some of the best food in the world.
Gift Fulfilled
Drinks at The Bar Hemingway - The bar serves tapas alongside fancy cocktails. Dan will resist the urge to behave like Hemingway himself.
Gift Fulfilled
Paris Cheese Tasting - Despite knowing great cheese from Wisconsin, Jodi is curious to find out what French cheese is all about (likely to be served with wine).
Gift Fulfilled
Biking Around the Countryside - Hopefully the local children will not attempt to push Jodi off her bicycle. Those kids in Luxor were just plain mean.
Gift Fulfilled
Rental Car - We plan to drive from Paris through Burgundy and the northern part of the Rhone Valley. Our language skills are unfortunately more likely to drive us toward Germany.
Gift Fulfilled
Wine Tasting in the Beaujolais - A well know area south of Macon, the Beaujolais' hills and terraces make way for Gamay, almost the only grape variety grown here. Have no idea what distinguishes Gamay, but we plan on finding out!
Gift Fulfilled
Tour of Dijon - the lively capital of Burgundy, Dijon holds the remnants of the Dukes of Burgundy and extensive Roman influence.
Gift Fulfilled
River boat ride in Lyon. Originally Greek, then Roman, Lyon is a World Heritage Site and the second largest city in France. A boat ride on the Rhone is the perfect way to get around!
Gift Fulfilled
Dinner at Leon de Lyon. A restaurant belonging to chef Jean-Paul Lacombe, Leon de Lyon is known as a gastronomic heaven. With little knowledge of French, chances are Dan orders something still alive...and eats it.
Gift Fulfilled
Wine tasting in the Maconnais - Yet another wonderful region where rolling hills make for first rate white wines.
Gift Fulfilled
Fresh Fish in Beaune - the original home of the Dukes of Burgundy, Beaune offers a great variety of fresh fish. We'll attempt to fish ourselves, but in all likelihood, we'll buy them and take them to the local eatery to have them prepared.
