Hi everyone! Thanks so much for taking the time to visit our Honeymoon Registry! As you all know, we have been together for a while (a long while), so we were struggling to come up with things to put on a traditional wedding registry (you can only have so many toasters, right?). We thought it would be fun to do something different and have our friends and family contribute to what will be the most memorable trip of our lives - our honeymoon. We have always wanted to explore the California coast and we are both road trip lovers so the choice for where to go was easy. The fun now is in the planning - checking out all of the cool things to do and see as we travel up the gorgeous coast, and deciding which we want to put on our must see/do list. We've come up with what we think is a pretty awesome trip, and we're so excited that our friends and family get to help us make it a reality! Be on the look out for postcards from the road :-)
xoxo
the soon to be newlyweds
We're going to California Coast - San Diego to San Francisco!
It took us a few revisions to nail it down, but here's the basic timeline...
June 3: Fly into LAX. Drive to San Diego for a three night stay in the Gaslamp District. Spend a day at the beach and another at Sea World before driving back up to LA.
June 6: Get to LA for a stay near Universal Studios where we can enjoy the rides and the CityWalk, while also close by to some of the famous Hollywood sites like the Walk of Fame and the Chinese theater.
June 7: hit the road for a scenic coastal drive from LA to Morro Bay; spend 2 nights in Morro Bay. While there we'll relax for a few days - maybe check out the Elephant Seals, rent bikes, visit the spa, whatever we are in the mood for! There are also some great little known wineries in this area - maybe we'll find time for a tour and tasting!
June 9: hit the road again for a drive up the coast to Big Sur. Big Sur isn't even technically a town, and it shouldn't be - that doesn't do this place justice. After stopping at Hearst Castle on the way, we're looking forward to two days among nature exploring the Redwoods, gorgeous waterfalls, secluded beaches...this is the life.
June 11: After two peaceful days in Big Sur, it's time to hit the road again. We'll take our time driving to San Francisco, stopping in a few scenic towns along the way - Carmel, Monterey, Santa Cruz - whatever! We'll settle in for the night in the City By the Bay - San Francisco. This city has always been high on both of our must see lists - there is just a charming draw to it. We're looking forward to taking two full days to explore things like Alcatraz, riding bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge, and finding a great dinner spot at the Fisherman's Wharf.
June 14: Time for wine! We'll head up to Napa Valley and Sonoma for a few days among the grapes. We're a bit overwhelmed by all of the choices for things to do and see in this area, so if you have any recommendations from your own travels, feel free to send them our way! We'll send you a postcard if we go! One thing we are sure to do while we are here is go on the Napa Valley Wine Train - an antique, functioning train that serves dinner while taking you on a journey through Napa Valley, ending at a vineyard for tastings and tours.
June 16: Back to San Francisco for a final night before we fly home to reality.
