Hello hello!
First of all, we just want to say how blessed we are to have so many friends and family who care about us! Your love and support means much more than any gift ever could. We are especially grateful to the (larger than expected - yay!) number of people who are willing to part with their time and expenses in order to come be a part of our wedding in Hawaii.
Now if this "honeymoon registry" thing seems a little confusing, it's really not. Let us explain...
As we began to think about our registry, we realized we've already got most all of the things the normal newly-engaged couple needs. (And probably two of them!) However, we love traveling together and are very excited for this first trip as husband and wife. It's our philosophy to place a higher value on acquiring life experiences rather than just more "stuff." With this goal in mind, we hope this registry will be the perfect way to make our honeymoon dreams come true! We greatly appreciate and will fondly recall these gifts for years to come. After all, the memories we'll take from Hawaii will last a lot longer than a new toaster anyway. :)
Love,
Emily and Paul
We're going to Maui and Oahu!
Believe it or not, neither one of us has ever been to Hawaii! Showing up for the wedding will be our first trip there. However, it is a place we've both always wanted to go, and what better reason to visit than for our own wedding?
Maui: We'll arrive in Maui with a few days to spare before our wedding on May 14. This time with be spent with family and friends, enjoying the island and activities and also firming up the last minute details for the big day! After the wedding, we'll spend another day in Maui as a married couple before departing for Oahu.
According to Frommer's, Maui is a collection of mostly small towns, plus natural wonders like Haleakala National Park, that introduce visitors to a slower way of life. It's famous for its extensive beaches, tumbling waterfalls, romantic sunsets, and a variety of adventures -- from golf to snorkeling to scuba diving. The island's as lush as an equatorial rainforest in Hana, as hot and dry as Mexico in Lahaina, and as cool and misty as Oregon in Kula. We plan to see it all!
Oahu: We figure that after enjoying the natural beauty that Maui has to offer, we'll be ready for a little city life! We'll be in Oahu May 16-20 before returning back to Maui to catch our flight home.
From what we've read in the travel guides, Oahu brings the history, nightlife and glamor. We definitely want to check out Pearl Harbor, the famous Waikiki Beach, and explore Honolulu.
