Hello all. Welcome to our honeymoon registry!

When Laurie and I bought our place in February 2010, we were able to combine our stuff to furnish the new condo. Thus, we already own a lot of the items you would find on a traditional wedding registry. We did create a standard list with Macy's for a few things we are missing or want to upgrade, however it was clear that a classic registry wouldn't work for us. Laurie and I looked far and wide for a thoroughbred yearling gift registry, but they have not created one of those sites yet.

As you may know, Laurie and I both share a love of travel and adventure. Gathering new experiences around the globe is one of our passions, so when we found travelers joy we were so excited. We have complied a list of dream adventures that Laurie and I would like to accomplish on our honeymoon. The registry allows you to give these experiences as gifts. So, instead of a serving plate, you can buy us swimming with dolphins in Southern New Zealand or champagne for the first night of our honeymoon in Auckland.

The memories of this trip will be worth more than you can imagine. We have taken many exciting trips but this will be our first trip as husband and wife! When we are old and gray we won't be talking about the cool blender we got and since replaced, we'll be talking about the cave exploration in NZ which, maybe you, will give us for our honeymoon. We will appreciate and fondly remember these gifts for the rest of our lives.

We're going to New Zealand!

Laurie and I are so excited for the adventure of a lifetime. We will be starting the trip in Auckland, the capital at the top of the north island and making our way by air, car, and ferry to the bottom of the south island and back. We will stop along the way for whale watching, caving, wine touring, boat cruises, dolphin swimming, and, of course, a rugby match, and a trip to the Trentham Racecourse for the New Zealand Oaks (what trip of ours would leave out a sporting event or two??).

During the whole trip we hope to do some amazing and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We are also leaving room for some unplanned and spontaneous activities. Laurie and I are so excited and can't wait to see this beautiful country.

Visit a Maori Marae - We will experience the hongi (the formal nose-to-nose Maori greeting), see deeply moving song and dance performances, and eat from a traditional underground hangi (oven). We'll do this in Rotorua as part of an organized tour.

Whale Watching - On the South Island in Kaikoura, when a mighty sperm whale flaps its tail at us, we won't forget it in a hurry. These big sea monsters come to this particular stretch of water for a marine habitat rich in their kind of plankton.

Wine Tasting - New Zealand's climate is perfect for fine wine growing, wineries, and vineyards. We will sample internationally acclaimed wines on a New Zealand wine tour in the Marlborough region of the South Island.

Rafting Adventure - It's a sports that consists of descending a fast moving river with an uncontrollable current. Fortunately, we'll be with a guide helping from the sides of the raft with our oars. We are ready!

Waikato is renowned internationally for its thoroughbred racing progeny. Laurie and I would like to tour several of the 18 commercial breeding farms in the region.

Swim with Dolphins! Give us a swim with the dolphins in NZ. This isn't a pool or aquarium, this is in the ocean with wild dolphins. Okay no explanation needed, who doesn't want to swim with dolphins?!

The Lost World Adventure involves a 330 ft. descent into a huge limestone shaft followed by an amazing caving expedition through the Mangapu Cave system.

Doubtful Sound is a massive wilderness area of rugged peaks, rainforest, and twisting, hidden inlets - all deep in the heart of Fiordland National Park. We want to take an 8 hour cruise through this natural wonder of the South Island.

Seafood! Give us the freshest seafood dinner you could imagine in New Zealand. NZ is two small islands with tons of rivers so it's famous for fresh saltwater and freshwater seafood.

Since beer is the most popular alcoholic drink in New Zealand (the country ranks 19th in beer consumption per capita), we will have to help them keep their ranking. After all our activities, we might need a Speight's, Lion Red, Steinlager or two.
