October 6, 2012

Hi Family and Friends,

Firstly, we are both so very honored that you are able to join us from near and far to celebrate our wedding. It is overwhelming to have such a gathering given the distances and it is more than we could ever ask for and something that we will never forget.

Once we have had some quality time with you all at our weddings - and we have made an honest woman of young Ariel - we are looking forward to our first real adventure as husband and wife in South Africa. Tom's understanding of South Africa is that they have a modest rugby and cricket team; it is much like Zamunda in the movie "Coming to America"; and they play "Toto" ALL. THE. TIME. Ariel seems to be far more naive and looks forward to emerging herself in a budding democracy shedding its scars from the oppressive apartheid; and that a whispering David Attenborough narrates the visual wonder of the great African plains. While both perceptions seem perfectly plausible, we both feel we should investigate further.

Thanks again and we can't wait to see you at the wedding (or earlier!).

Love,
Tommy & Ariel

We're going to Cape Town, Londolozi, Botswana!

Kruger & Chobe

Day 1-4: Londolozi Private Game Reserve, Kruger National Park

You can start this tour either in Cape Town or Johannesburg. You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your direct flight to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport. You will be transferred to the Londolozi Private Reserve. Your game viewing begins now and once you are in the reserve itself, you are guaranteed an exclusive wilderness experience away from the hordes of Kruger tourists. You have a choice of staying at the stylish Varty or Founders Camp. You arrive in time for a late lunch and head out on an afternoon game drive with your ranger.

Staying in the Londolozi Game Reserve ensures a more private and privileged experience. Rangers need not abide by park rules and can go off-road to get closer to animals, lead you on bush walks tracking Africa's wild beasts and there are night drives, sleep-outs and dinners in the bush. When you are not spotting the Big Five, you can spend your days relaxing at your luxury lodge, lazing by the pool, spoiling yourself with a Spa treatment and feasting on an enormous amount of gourmet African cuisine. And the armchair game viewing is also amazing!

Day 5-7: Victoria Falls

Your Kruger Safari finally comes to an end and after one last game drive you are transferred to Skukuza Airport for the newly established flight routing to Livingstone Airport - this saves you time and money since you no longer need to overnight in Johannesburg. You are met by a representative at the airport and transferred to the classy Tongabezi Lodge which assures you a luxurious and comfortable stay. You have the afternoon at leisure to explore the Falls, one of the world's seven natural wonders and get drenched by the spray!

The following day, you enjoy a guided tour of the Falls - referred to the locals as 'The Smoke That Thunders'. You will be accompanied by an experienced guide every step of the way and all your questions and needs will be answered. In the evening, you enjoy a Sundowner Cruise on the Zambezi River, spotting wildlife from your boat as the skyline turns crimson. Both these tours are included in the package and give you a real insight into the mighty Falls.

Day 7-10: Chobe National Park

You will be transferred from Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park in a 4x4 Safari Vehicle. The journey takes about an hour and you will be at Kasane before you know it, staying at the exclusive Chobe Muchenje, the only lodge on the western side of Chobe National Park. Enjoy Big Five game viewing in the National Park and sip cocktails on spectacular sunset river cruises under the guidance of well trained rangers.

Thrilling guided game drives in open vehicles bring you to the the world's largest elephant population, as well as hippos, buffalos, puku, antelopes, lions and many more wild animals that gather on the banks of the Chobe River. Whether on water or land, the wildlife experience really is quite something!
