Hi dearest people of our lives, in Brazil, the US, or anywhere else in the world
First of all, thank you very much for what you represent for the two of us and our parents. Our lives are wonderful much because of you. We are very excited about our wedding and are very much looking forward to celebrating it with you, either in Long Island (Nov, 22nd), or in Sao Paulo (Dec, 13th). We are also very excited about our honeymoon to Hawaii, and thought you might want to help this dream come true.
We did register for the traditional kitchen, bedroom, dining-related presents at Bloomingdale's and others, but after recently combining two households worth of "stuff" under one tiny Manhattan apartment, already equipped with refrigerator, stove and all other appliances, we realized there is not too much that we can register for. We really would love to have a bigger apartment to fit lots of presents, but real estate in Manhattan would certainly not be a popular pick for our guests... So, agreeing that what we want, a lifetime honeymoon to Hawaii, is as important as what our kitchen needs, we decided to set up this registry website. We tried to make it an enjoyable experience for you, our beloved guests, so you can share a little of our excitement.
Thank you for visiting and for participating in our happiness! Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Love,
Allison & Henrique
We're going to Hawaii!
We, searching for a great place for our honeymoon, applied our consulting techniques and started an ideation session: where should we go? We love the beach and some adventures together. Henrique loves the sea, the sun, the animals, and mildly wild experiences, such as diving, surfing (has never tried, but he loves anyway) and whatever happens after 10-15 drinks. Al loves the good life, romantic sceneries, nice spas, and especially the idea of seeing the largest active volcano in the world. She also likes the idea of staying close to first-class hospital infrastructure, just in case having 10-15 drinks ends up being just too much. Given that, after lots of research (biased by the bride's patriotic spirit), we picked Hawaii.
Hawaii is comprised of 6 islands, but we are visiting only 3 during the 15 days we will spend there: Oahu, Maui and Big Island.
Those who don't have time to or interest in learning a little about Hawaii should not waste time reading the rest of this note -- just scrow down and enjoy a virtual trip to Hawaii through our registry. For those more interested in the island and our adventure, here go some fun facts.
The trip starts in Oahu, the most inhabited of Hawaii's island, where the capital Honolulu is located. It is also famous for Waikiki and the North Shore, where those 50-feet (15 meter), tube-shaped, crazy waves are formed, especially in the winter (in the northern hemisphere), exactly the period we will be there! Oahu also hosts Pearl Harbor, which was devasted by an aerial attack during the World War II, and which we are planning to visit. Besides that, Oahu offers "shark tours", lots of restaurants, shopping, and most of what "large" cities can offer.
The second destination is Maui, an island with small population and known for its romantic beaches, wonderful nature, scenic tours, and intimate towns. There we will relax at the beach, watch humpback whales breach the sea (only possible to be seen from Dec through Feb), hike, watch the sunrise atop the 10,000-foot Haleakala Crater, and simply enjoy life.
The Big Island, as the name indicates, is the largest of the Hawaiian islands. A good friend of ours who has been there many times says it's the best of all islands, much because of the largest active volcano in the world, which mouth can be seen from a helicopter, and which lava can almost be touched during the day or night as one walks on the surroundings of the volcano. Interesting fact for the Brazilians and soccer affictionato, the volcano is also known as Pele, the Brazilian soccer player considered the best athelte in history of all sports. As a fan of scuba diving, as Henrique is, our friend strongly suggests diving at night surrounded by large rays -- Henrique says he is definitely doing it. Diving with dolphins and eating in great restaurants are also in our plans.
I hope you enjoy this registry website. We think it gives a flavor of what Hawaii is like. We have added links to interesting websites, so you can have a virtual trip to the islands. A great place to start, if you are interested, is Hawaii's official website: http://www.gohawaii.com. I hope you enjoy sharing our excitement.
You are part of our wonderful lives and we will love seeing you very soon.
Love,
Allison & Henrique
