We decided to register for our honeymoon instead of registering for household items. We received so many wonderful gifts at Ali's bridal shower that we couldn't even think of anything else to ask for! But we had our hearts set on a long honeymoon in Paris and here's why...

We visited Paris on our way back from Switzerland in the summer of 2011. When our four days there were coming to a close we seriously considered extending our stay, but eventually gave in to the practical, job-holding lobes of our brains. However, we promised ourselves that one day we would come back and live in Paris for a bit—rent an apartment, shop at the markets, speak the language—the whole nine yards. When we got engaged, we realized that the summer after the wedding would be the perfect time: before too many obstacles materialize, before life passed us by, before the zombie apocalypse strikes. So we're packing our bags and moving to Paris for 6 weeks.

We are so excited to be taking our honeymoon in Paris! We are going to be renting an apartment in a quiet little neighborhood in the 17th arrondissement. From our little homebase we will explore Paris, and hopefully some other areas of France as well!

Tour of Versailles: We'll meander the grounds, tip-toe through the palace, and let everyone eat cake!

Shopping in Montmatre: Montmatre has beautiful views of the city, a stunning basilica, and row after row of cute shops and street vendors. Everything from art, to knickknacks, to scarves are up for sale and we want to buy some!

French Cooking Class: Local establishments offer a variety of cooking classes for visitors and place a particular emphasis on French technique. They even have classes for "les incompetentes" like us.

Dinner at Clementine: One of the highlights of our first visit to Paris was a dinner at a warm and intimate restaurant called Clementine. Another romantic dinner there would be a dream!

Trips to the Market: Nothing beats a lunch of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other goodies from one of the neighborhood's outdoor markets. Send us on a food shopping adventure!

Pastries! What can we say? No one makes pastries like the French. Pain au chocolat, pear tarts, and buttery croissants are among our favorites!

We would love to have a picnic in one of Paris' many parks. We'll be stuffing baguette sandwiches, fruit, and cheese in our pic-a-nic-a basket. Any other suggestions?

Cafe at night: At the end of a long day of exploring the city, we'd love to sit down at a cafe to chat and look over our pictures. We can sip wine (or Diet Coke) and nibble on bread and cheese while we unwind.
