Di likes adventure. Ben likes luxury. Our honeymoon promises to be the best of both.

The criteria for deciding was simple....Di wanted a massage, Bub wanted a beach. Di wanted go somewhere neither had been, Bub wanted a beach. Di wanted some culture, some hiking, Bub wanted a beach. Both wanted to dine al fresco, neither wanted to worry about a lack of vegetarian options or a plethora of olives in their food...Thailand it is!

...Kinda. UPDATE: When Bangkok imploded on itself and curfews went into effect, we decided to do some rejigging of our itinerary to exclude Bangkok and Northern Thailand. Now, we'll be going from bustling city to the slow surf.

We'll be leaving for Asia within 2 days of getting hitched, and we'll hope that whirlwind makes it easier to sleep on the long plane ride. We'll partake in our favorite activity: eating. And eventually eat our way to Koh Samui,Thailand to indulge in the cuisine that starred in our first-ever dinner date...

We'll be staying 4 nights at Langham Place Hotel in Mongkok--the Brooklyn of HK, and the side with great views of the city skyline. With an outdoor pool on the roof, 40+ floors up, we'll be sure to take in the views and get some reflief from the heat.

We'll arrive Monday afternoon and take a good-long nap before heading to dinner. For the first night, we'll stay nearby. We've arranged for dinner with harbour views at Nobu, eating some of the best sushi we can find.

We'll cross one of the busiest water ways in the world en route to Hong Kong Island. We'll people watch--there's a whole ot of t'ai chi going on in the park. From there, we'll take the tram to the peak of the island, and sample some tea and dim sum.

Away from the bustle, with hired guides, we'll do a 7K hike on Lamma--an island without roads or cars. We'll trek on a coastal path through fishing villages and catch hilltop views of the South China Sea, stopping for a well-earned seafood lunch.

Food is our passion, and HK is the perfect place for this. They have "private kitchens"--secret eating establishments similar to bars during Prohibition. After some sleuth work online, I've narrowed it down. If Bub wants spicy, he's gonna get it

Well, we're so close, we figure we'll go to Macau! We'll purchase our ferry tickets for the 75 minute ride and spend the day exploring the historic Portuguese quarter and taking a small break from Cantonese food.

We'll have nearly a full day before we leave Hong Kong, so we'll explore the bird and flower markets in walking distance from the hotel and follow it up with what appears on every must-do list for HK: high tea in the lobby of The Peninsula Hotel.

Island Safari Tour: We'll see some waterfalls, some temples, some monkeys, fit in a mini-elephant trek and visit the "Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks"--rocks shaped over millions of years by wind and water to resemble human reproductive organ

Why is it that sun & sand make you so hungry? In the evenings, we'll dine in Fisherman's Village and Chaweng. You can't beat dining al fresco near the beach for a few nights...a far cry from dining al fresco on 2nd Avenue on the island of Manhattan!
