Thank you for visiting our Honeymoon site! As two people who merged near-complete households, we didn't have much we needed to register for and loved the idea of giving people the opportunity to help us with different parts of our honeymoon. We plan to take plenty of photos and complete the 'blog' made available to us when we return!

We're going to Greece, the Island of Santorini!

We are so excited about our honeymoon - we knew where we were going for the honeymoon before we knew our wedding location! After having the opportunity to travel to Santorini two years ago with two of her best friends, Amy believes it to be the most romantic place on earth and was determined to return there with someone special....and Russ has never seen it and was very enthused about that plan. We actually contemplated getting married there, but we decided that we wanted to choose a ceremony location that could include more of our friends and family.

We will be spending our first three nights in the Island Capital of Fira (also "Thira" with the differences in Greek spelling). Fira overlooks the Caldera, which is the still-active volcano that created Santorini - and also overlooks the beautiful sunsets every night as it sits on the western side of the Island. Fira is the largest area of shops and restaurants on the Island and is more centrally-located to allow for easier exploration of points on the outskirts of the Island like the ruins of Akrotiki, which we plan to explore on one of our first few days.

We are staying in a more 'budget friendly' room and location in Fira in order to splurge a bit when we get to our last three nights and the smaller, cozy restort town of Oia on the northern tip of the Island. Our splurge will get us a small suite with our own private outdoor jacuzzi on the balcony to watch the sunsets from.

There is a possibility that we may day-trip to a nearby island, but we have been warned that the ferry schedules are erratic and constantly changing, so our plans to do so may be a gametime decision on our part.
