Our honeymoon is the culmination of a joyous and eventful year. We'll finally get a chance to truly relax after collectively completing fifty-one years of schooling! And that doesn't even include pre-k. Can you say mega-geeks? Maria just graduated from her doctoral program at the University of Pennsylvania, and Gerald just received tenure at Indiana University, Bloomington. We are celebrating by honeymooning on the Caribbean Islands of St. Lucia and Dominica. In St. Lucia we plan to take a literary tour because it is the home of several of our favorite poets, including Derek Walcott. We'll also be doing plenty of snorkeling! (Gerald will probably be adorned with an inflatable seahorse, due to his sub-standard swimming skills; Maria, on the other hand, is a mermaid). Dominica is a mountainous island with plenty of hiking trails. We're staying at a gorgeously situated, socially and ecologically responsible resort where you can hear the ocean from your bungalow - a sure antidote for Gerald's insomnia! Although we'll be hard to reach, we'll take plenty of pictures to share with everyone.
