This honeymoon registry is an alternative to the traditional gift registry. Since we have already lived together for quite a few years, we already have many of the things that would often be given as wedding gifts. This registry will allow us to plan a dream honeymoon that will leave us with memories to last a lifetime. We would like to thank in advance, all of our friends and family.

We're going to Crete, Santorini and Athens!

The hot sun and cool ocean combined with the beauty of classical ruins make the Greek islands an ideal honeymoon location for us. Since we both studied classical history in college, the Greek islands and the remnants of the Minoan civilization have always held a strong appeal.

We will begin our two week trip in Chania, Crete. Crete was the center of the Minoan world and plays a crucial role in Greek mythology. The remains of that civilization may be seen all over the island but especially at the Knossos.Crete is often described as a separate country from the rest of Greece and in fact it has only been part of Greece since the 1940s. The Island which is the alleged birth place of Zeus has seen many invading armies from the Greeks and Persians to the Venetians, Turks and even the Nazis and Italians during WWII. We will spend 5 days on the island. From Crete we will fly to Santorini or Thira as it is locally known.

Many people believe that the Minoan civilization on Thira gave rise to Plato's writings of the lost civilization of Atlantis, since the advanced civilization on the island was destroyed by a major volcano eruption around 1623 B.C. Today Thira is know for its white washed buildings with bright blues roofs, its red and black sand beaches and its romantic sunsets.

We will end our two week trip in Athens, getting a chance to explore the acropolis and the old city before returning home.
