Great wine, food, and spas? Napa and Sonoma Valleys and San Francisco seemed like a perfect place to go for our honeymoon! We're spending a week in wine country to relax and unwind after the wedding, and then heading to San Francisco for a more urban experience.

We're going to San Francisco, CA; Calistoga, CA; Napa, CA!

We fly into San Francisco on the 21st and will head straight to Calistoga, located about halfway between Napa and Sonoma counties. Here, we're hoping to stay a couple of nights at the Chanric Inn, known for their gourmet three course breakfasts. We'll visit wineries in the area, and hopefully indulge in Calistoga's famous mud baths!! After a few days in Calistoga, we'll head south to Napa and spend a few days there. We're also planning on spending at least a day in Sonoma to explore more wineries and go to The Girl & The Fig, a French Country restaurant that we've heard great things about.

After a week in wine country, we'll head back to San Francisco. Here we'd like to celebrate Kristen's heritage by stopping at the birthplace of Irish coffee, the Buena Vista. Other stops will include Alcatraz Island and the Cable Car Museum, as well as as hitting up all the major food hubs. Ok, we may not hit them all, but we're certainly going to do our best! Hopefully we'll as least get some really great tacos, sushi, and maybe even go to Alice Water's restaurant, Chez Panisse. We're going to have to a lot of biking and walking to make up for all the food and wine, but we can't imagine a better way to spend our honeymoon!

We kick off our honeymoon with a romantic four-course dinner at the Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil. We're hoping for good weather, so we can enjoy our food and wine at a terrace table overlooking Napa Valley.

Kristen's supervisor, Kim, told her she could take 2 weeks off for her honeymoon on the condition that we promised to go to Chez Panisse, Alice Water's restaurant in Berkeley. We're certainly willing to oblige!

Is it weird that we want to go to a prison for our honeymoon? Kristen's always wanted to go to Alcatraz, so since we decided on San Francisco, it's been on her wish list!

We were unable to get reservations to Thomas Keller's renowned restaurant The French Laundry, so we'll be visiting his Ad Hoc restaurant instead. We love the restaurant's slogan: "for temporary relief from hunger."

One of our very favorite foods is sushi, and we hear San Francisco is a great place to get it! Joseph will be sure to get his favorite -- uni (sea urchin). Kristen will be sure to save room for anything BUT the uni!
