Hi everyone!
Thank you for visiting our wedding registry page for our honeymoon. We are so looking forward to seeing you at our wedding this October. It is very meaningful to us that we be surrounded by our loved ones on this very important day. Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could hope for.
We cannot think of a better place to celebrate our first week as husband and wife than the incredibly romantic and lush island of St. Lucia. We are beyond excited to have this once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the wild volcanoes and rain forests, and rest along the peaceful coastline of this remote Caribbean island. This special trip will last a lifetime in our hearts and give us warm memories to share with each other forever.
Love,
Andrew and Melissa
We're going to Mago Estate Hotel, St. Lucia!
Our honeymoon begins the Tuesday following our wedding. We want to make sure we are well-rested from wedding festivities so that we can take full advantage of our dream trip! We will be spending 7 glorious and fun-filled nights at the Stonefield Estate Villa Resort, where we will sleep in a one-bedroom villa with our very own plunge pool. We hope to be lulled to sleep by the smell of ginger lilies and the sounds of exotic song birds singing in the tree tops above our bed.
St. Lucia is a unique island among those more typical Caribbean Islands --a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. The majority of the island remains undeveloped, protected forest. It is located midway down the Eastern Caribbean chain, between Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with a shape that is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado (depending on your taste). The Atlantic Ocean kisses its eastern shore, while the beaches of the west coast owe their beauty to the calm Caribbean Sea.
In natural beauty, St. Lucia is said to be an island plucked from the South Pacific and set down in the Caribbean. Its dramatic twin coastal peaks, the Pitons, soar 2,000 feet up from the sea, sheltering magnificent rain forests where wild orchids, giant ferns, and birds of paradise flourish. Brilliantly-plumed tropical birds abound, including endangered species like the indigenous St. Lucia parrot. Of note is the St. Lucia Racer, the world's rarest snake; don't worry Andrew, Melissa will be there to look out for you! The rainforest is broken only by plantations of banana, coconut, mango, and papaya trees.
St. Lucia has been inhabited since long before colonial times. The island's people have earned a well-deserved reputation for their warmth and charm, and the island itself is dotted with aged fortresses, small fishing villages, and open-air markets.
There are tons of exciting and exotic activities available on St. Lucia. The island's steep coastlines and lovely reefs offer excellent snorkeling. The rainforest preserves of St. Lucia's mountainous interior are one of the Caribbean's finest spots for hiking and bird watching. We are especially excited for St. Lucia's Soufriere volcano, the world's only drive-in volcanic crater!!! And when we are done with our rainforest excursions, we look forward to strolling hand-in-hand through the streets of Soufriere, the cute French colonial town that lies just down the hill from our villa. This is truly the vacation of our dreams!
