As a couple, we greatly value shared experiences - and one of our favorites is to travel together. Travel inspires, challenges, and engages our natural curiosity about the world, and about each other. We want our honeymoon to be a memorable time - one that we'll look back on in the years to come not only as a deeply romantic trip, but as an adventure! As such, we have opted to delay our honeymoon until the Spring of 2010 in order to save up some money, and go for a longer period of time.
We're going to Iceland, Norway, Italy!
We wanted our destinations to have more meaning than just a warm beach and cocktails (not that we aren't big fans of both those things). Iceland and all of it's wild wonders - geological, urban, and aquatic - has long been on our 'to do' list. Sean loves a good hot soak, and I love rugged landscapes. A perfect fit. And what better time to soak up the land of Sigur Ros than on your honeymoon?! Exactly. Blue Lagoon, here we come!
Thanks to tales of my family's ancestors, my brother's junior year abroad near Trondheim, our fascination with New Scandinavian Cooking videos, and Geir's tantalizing party stories, Norway has been calling to us for awhile. It may be blustery in the spring, but we'll find a sauna or two to take the edge off, I'm sure. Skol!
And then, we'll wend our way to Italy. What's more romantic than Venezia, Cinque Terra, Firenze and riding trains through the hills and towns of Italy? We are still cobbling together our itinerary, so the gift of suggestions for your favorite spots and sights would be very meaningful.
