Welcome to our Honeymoon Registry! Over the past few years we have really enjoyed active, outdoor vacations such as Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, where we hiked our brains out in the Rockies, and Acadia National Park in Maine, where we kayaked with harbor seals and biked along the famous carriage roads. We wanted our honeymoon to have the same adventurous spirit as our other trips but kick the destination up a notch to reflect the momentous occasion. Thanks to the miles Ryan racked up from his gazillion business trips to such fabulous places as Provo, UT and Yuma, AZ, we are fortunate enough to be honeymooning in the state of Queensland, Australia! Below are some of the activities we would love to do while we are "downunda." There is also an opportunity to donate to help those affected by the horrible fires that ravaged eastern Australia late last year. Thanks in advance for helping others and for helping us make our honeymoon one of the most memorable trips of our lives.
We're going to Queensland, Australia!
Our honeymoon will start with a two day trip to Sydney staying at a hotel overlooking the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Bay. A Sydney Harbor dinner cruise would really help relieve some of the jet-lag we are sure to be facing! Next we'll head up to Port Douglas, which lies on the Queensland coast with easy access to the Great Barrier Reef. A relaxing spa package offered at our hotel in Port Douglas would be greatly appreciated after 22 long months of wedding planning! During our stay, we plan to take several day trips into Daintree National Park to discover the crazy wildlife, including a riverboat tour that promises "freshies" (fresh-water crocodiles) and amazing bird watching. Following our week in Port Dougy, we'll head inland to the Atherton tablelands to catch a glimpse of the famous Aussie outback. The Allawah Retreat bed & breakfast is sure to relax and the sprawling tablelands will provide a much different experience from the plush forests we will have left behind. Next we will drive to Airlie Beach in time to catch a 3 day 2 night Great Barrier Reef cruise on-board the Ragamuffin II, a 55-ft ex-maxi racing schooner. Over the next 3 days we will snorkel and relax in the turquoise blue water of one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. Our last brief stop will be a one night stay in Brisbane in preparation for a long trip home!
