We met in August 2005 while working together at Waterloo Records. Within two weeks of meeting, we began dating and have been together ever since. In August 2006, we decided to move in together. One week later, we discovered that Jessie was pregnant. An unexpected surprise, but there was never any doubt that we loved each other and would raise our child together with all our hearts and might. People immediately started asking us when we would get married ...
On Valentine's Day, 2007, we welcomed our son Alby Turner Hoyas into the world. Alby strengthened our relationship and brought us even closer. Even through the sleep deprivation and utter lack of experience in child rearing, we remained in love and dedicated to having a happy, little family.
People still often inquired about our marriage status, but we admittedly weren't too concerned with it at the time. Taking care of an infant leaves little time to worry about anything else. We knew we loved each other and wanted to be together forever, but marriage wasn't our main priority.
While we realize our situation is neither conventional nor traditional, we want to set an example for our son. We made a conscious decision to wait to get married. We want Alby to be there with us and be aware of how much we love each other. We want him to be able to look back and know that we married each other, not because of an unexpected pregnancy, but because we truly love each other and want to spend our lives together.
We hope our friends and family will also be able to be there with us on our wedding day. We look forward to celebrating with all of you!
