Thanks for visiting our honeymoon registry. We are both looking forward to our upcoming wedding at Highland Ranch in October (where we met!) and our November reception in Berkeley. It will be wonderful to have all of our friends and family around to share these special times with us.
As all of you know we both share a love for Southeast Asia, the culture, the weather, and especially the FOOD! Before meeting we both spent time independently in the area and have always dreamed of going together, what a better time than our honeymoon and as Husband and wife!
We thought it would be fun for our friends and family to contribute to making this trip possible by giving gifts like bowls of udon in old town tokyo or a boat trip down the Chaya River in Bangkok and of course some Asian Body Work (research and development)!
We're going to Vietnam. Thailand , toyko!
We'd like to begin our trip with a small layover in the big city of TOKYO..we both love Japanese culture and food, so this layover will be an gastronomical festivity, probably no sleep will be had, no noodle unslurrped, and sake bottle left unfinished and then possibly or more probable no kareoke song unsung. Just a short 2 night extravaganza to start our honeymoon off as husband and wife.
Continuing on to Vietnam..Ryan has spent some time here and loved it! I was oh' so close, having made it to the border but the government was not issuing visas because it was TET, the Vietnamese new year. So I am elated to go. We will fly into Ho Chi Minh City and enjoy the bustle of the city life and the food stalls galore, more noodles and lots of Banh mi, a culinary delight, a mix of the French and Vietnamese influences: Check it out"
Bahn mi is a Vietnamese baguette made with wheat and rice flour, as well as a type of sandwich traditionally made with this type of baguette.[1] The sandwich is made up of thinly sliced pickled carrots and daikon, onions, cilantro, jalapeño peppers and meat or tofu. Popular bánh mì fillings include roasted or grilled pork, Vietnamese Ham, paté, mayonnaise, chicken, and head cheese.
Well, forgo the head cheese but, they are oh so good! and super easy to make, but never as good at home as on the street!
After the amazing seductive tastes of the city we plan to head to the coast, where Ryan can dive in the South China Sea. I can snorkel a bit and do some research and development into Vietnamese body work.....really.
And then off to the land of Siam where everything is a contradiction. Where we can get in touch with our Buddhist side by day by visiting amazing Buddhist temples and by night traditional Muy Thai, oh yeah.
