Now, I can already hear some of you thinking, "Didn't those lucky devils already have a honeymoon, in Tahiti?!" Answer: absolutely not! That was more like work if you think about it. Our entire day was booked-up hour by hour without any time for IM'ing, web surfing, email, etc.; we were forced to endure long meetings with "relaxation consultants" who wouldn't get off our backs, as well as "gastronomical engineers" who forced us to try dozens of exotic foods all day; and, worst of all, we had to navigate heavily shark and ray infested waters while we did laps around the blindingly blue lagoon. When we finally got a break from all the madness, we found that our thatched roof cubicles were only partially stocked with fruit platters and wine. Frankly, I'm surprised we made it back.
This time we'll touch down in Pisa, catch the first train to Florence, and set off on a pair of Italy's finest two wheelers. We'll cruise down the backroads through the heart of Tuscany, among rolling hills of wheat, olive orchards, and vineyards. Over the course of seven days we'll pedal through Florence, the Chianti wine region, Siena, Buoncovento, Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano, Chiusi, and Arezzo, and other towns that are equally fun to say in a bad Italian accent. Along the way, we'll stop frequently and explore old chapels and monasteries; ancient fortified hilltop villages; cafes; cheese shops; and maybe a winery, maybe.
We've broken the trip down into its essential component parts: il vino, las bicicletas, il cafes, il vino, l'hotels, il ristorantes, il vino, il biscotti, il pizzeria, il tartufo, il gelato,... If you decide to contribute to our "choose your own adventure" fund, we'll be sure to send you a thank you note via "la posta aerea", in perfect italian, from the exact location or event that you made possible! (Signed with authentic greasey biker thumbprints.)
Grazie! Arrivederci!
