We decided to go this route because with a honeymoon registry, you can help us make our first adventure together as a married couple a wonderful experience filled with opportunities to make memories that will last a lifetime. Using Traveler's Joy, you help us put our honeymoon together, one piece at a time, from a quiet beachside condo rental in Haleiwa to a stargazing excursion on Mauna Kea.
Shaun and I are no strangers to travel together. We've conquered road trips to eleven states in our nearly three years as a couple. We love exploring new places together - and although Shaun has been to Hawaii once before (lucky kid!), he is very much looking forward to going back and sharing some of his favorite Hawaiian experiences with me. But just to keep things on an even keel, we have some fantastic excursions planned that will be fun and new experiences for both of us. We're planning a fantastic trip that includes much more than just sitting on a beach drinking Mai Tais (although if and when that happens, I'm not going to complain!) - it will showcase some of the best experiences that Hawaii has to offer.
We also know that some of you are Hawaii veterans, and as such, we would love any travel advice or suggestions for experiences we might have missed in our planning. We can't wait to hear from you! And we can't wait to see everyone at the wedding!
A little note: we divided some of the larger items like the accommodations and the stargazing excursion into small chunks to make them more accessible to a wider range of gift budgets. You can choose if you would like to contribute part or all of an item by changing the quantity. We are grateful for any contributions. :)
We're going to Hawaii: Oahu and the Big Island!
The short version: Eleven days in paradise!
The long version:
We will be flying into Honolulu on Oahu first and then driving to the North Shore for a few days of quiet beachside relaxation after what is sure to be a hectic (but awesome!) wedding weekend with all of our favorite family and friends. We're planning on checking out the surfing at Hawaii's famous Banzai Pipeline (don't worry - we're just going to watch!), exploring the town of Haleiwa, and spending a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
From there, we will fly to Kona on the Big Island for a week of wide-ranging adventures. We'll start off on the western side of the island with snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay, a romantic sunset dinner, and a spectacular nighttime stargazing expedition to Mauna Kea!
After that, we will drive eastward to Volcano Village on the other side of the Island. We'll spend two nights in a honest-to-goodness tree house, using that as base camp while we explore Volcanoes National Park, the Puna District, and the city of Hilo.
Finally, we'll return to Oahu to spend the last two days of our trip in classic Hawaiian fashion - soaking up the sun on Waikiki beach!
