Hi everyone!
First off, we deeply appreciate your presence at our wedding. We appreciate the time and energy you will spend to make it to our wedding, and we are grateful that we will be able to celebrate this happy occasion with you.
We have been blessed to have a lot of the "essential" home items a newly engaged couple needs. We hope you find this registry as a way to help us make our perfect honeymoon come true! It is because of the lifetime of memories we would gain from this trip that we decided on a honeymoon registry. We greatly appreciate and will fondly remember these gifts for years to come. After all, the memories from this honeymoon will last a lot longer than a new set of wine glasses (especially with Michael's tendency to break them!).
We'll do our best to document our experience with photos and include these in your much-deserved "thank you" note. We will also blog about our travels as much as possible.
Thanks again and we can't wait to see you at the wedding (or earlier!).
Love,
Marlene and Michael
P.S. We also want to note that we are planning to take our European honeymoon in August 2012. This is mainly because Michael's work schedule only allows him to take an extended trip in the summer. Immediately after our wedding, we will take a kind of mini-honeymoon along the Pacific Coast; we are saving for this and including the expense in our wedding budget.
We're going to Europe!
We have both always wanted to visit Europe.
Our itinerary starts with a flight from Los Angeles to Dublin. We will spend two or three days in Dublin before taking a train to Limerick. From Limerick we will rent a car to drive along Ireland western coast, particularly to see the Cliffs of Moher. We will end up in Galway, where we will spend a couple of days before taking a train back to Dublin.
From Dublin we will take a ferry to Liverpool, home of the Beatles, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Marlene's favorite English football team, Everton FC. We will try to time it so that we can take in a match at Everton's home field, Goodison Park. From Liverpool we plan to take a train to Manchester, home of such legendary artists as Joy Division, the Smiths, and Davy Jones (just kidding on the last one--or am I?). Marlene will retrace the steps of her teenage idol, Morrissey, before we take a train to the northernmost city on our itinerary, Edinburgh.
We would love to visit London, but a little event called the Summer Olympics has the nerve to be taking place that same month, so after about a week in Scotland and northwest England we will only pass through London in order to take the Channel Tunnel to France. We will spend a week or so in Paris; Michael is eagerly reading travel articles about Paris' different neighborhoods to get ready. We plan to visit as many museums as possible and search for delicious food. We will also try to visit other landmarks and sites of interest in northern France near the capital. Michael is also making French flash cards so he can brush up enough to converse with the natives.
From France, we'll fly home!
