Egypt is the place Lucy wants to see more than any other in the world. She loves her history, and I love seeing old and preferably enormous buildings. So its an ideal spot for us.
The trip begins in Cairo, the current capital of Egypt. The Great Pyramid is there and Sphinx which is required by law to see on any trip to Egypt.
Next we go to Aswan which has more ancient buildings and a dam of the same name. Like most things in life that dam has solved some problems by causing others. The important thing to me though, is that is it fricking huge. When it was first built it provided half of all the electricity in Egypt. It's big.
Next we travel to Luxor which was the capital of ancient Egypt. There are tons of temples and obelisks and whatnot here, including the Karnak complex and the Valley of the Kings.
After that we are off to Hurghada which has no historical significance whatsoever. It's a resort town (read: tourist trap) where we will relax and spend too much money.
Then we arrive in Dahab, Arabic for gold. Another resort town probably even spendier than the last. They offer some wind surfing here which I am keen to try. Somewhere ridiculously hot seems the best place for a sport like that.
The trip winds up in Cairo again. Here we can visit the famous markets where we can purchase items to remember the trip by. Someone should really find a better name for that sort of thing.
