Welcome family and friends!

Thank you for visiting our honeymoon registry. Our March 8 wedding in downtown Los Angeles is shaping up to be an elegant and unusual event.

We truly are looking forward to seeing all our invited guests there; after all, this is your celebration. We could've gotten married alone at city hall, but we believe that your presence -- the community -- is the paving stone upon which our marriage must take its first step.

We also believe that memories are more important than objects. After all, memories don't chip, memories don't crack, memories don't end their warranty two days before your fifteen-hundred dollar laptop computer fritzes. But that's a story for a different webpage.

And because we believe that memories are more important than objects, we're asking you to help us afford a toe-tingling honeymoon to ... Spain and Portugal.

We're going to Spain and Portugal!

There are many reasons why we've chosen Spain over, say, hunting in Siberia. First, we both understand Spanish. Second, Jen would really prefer not to be eaten by a bear (though Jason has always enjoyed new experiences). Third, and most importantly, Jen's maternal ancestors were in fact from Spain before they fled to Puerto Rico. It is literally her motherland.

So the plans have been laid. On the Monday following our wedding, we will depart for two and a half weeks. First, Barcelona while we accustom ourselves to our surroundings. Then we'll explore Andalucia, the hot region famous for its flamenco and fine sherry. Valencia, Toledo, Cordoba, Granada, Sevilla -- all visited during Semana Santa, a.k.a. Holy Week, the most traditionally Catholic time of the year. Then off to Portugal: its capital, Lisbon, and the surrounding ancient Roman ruins in the countryside. Eventually we'll wander towards Galicia, the heavily Gaelic northwestern part of Spain, and its capital, Santiago di Compostela, for a couple days' rest before moseying along the wet northern coast towards the Basque region and its famous Rioja wineries.

Furthermore, rather than book a packaged vacation that would have us shuffling helplessly from church to church like chained penitents in a medieval scourge ... we've decided to go it alone. DIY. Captains of our fate. Hotel bookings: us. Car rental: us. Feet sore from cobblestones, foreign ears wincing at mangled Spanish syntax: definitely us.

Most of all, what we would truly love, more than anything, is to experience that intangible spirit of discovery that will keep us reminiscing for decades.

If you agree with this sentiment, please select whatever item(s) below reflect your own tastes and interests. We'll remember it sincerely when we return. Thank you in advance!

Con cariño,
Jen and Jason
