Hi everybody. Welcome to our honeymoon registry. We are looking forward to seeing everybody in Maryland for our wedding and reception on October 6.
Some of our most memorable times together have been traveling. Before we even knew each other very well, during our 'courting' phase Allison came out to China to visit me, where I was a Peace Corps volunteer. We spent two weeks traveling around some harsh areas of Western China in the winter. We met up in South Africa in 2005, after Allison worked as doctor in Malawi for two months. Last summer we travelled to Germany where we were engaged, at the side of Alpine Lake. Finally, earlier this year we had the opportunity to travel through the Yucatan Peninsula together in Mexico.
We are both really excited about getting three weeks to travel for our honeymoon. We hope to have another memorable travel experience, this time as husband and wife! We hope that our family and friends will help us write this next chapter of our story together.
We're going to Vietnam/Cambodia/Thailand/Malaysia!
After much deliberating Allison and I decided to go to Southeast Asia for our honeymoon. Neither of us have been there before and we are excited about exploring the cultures, as well as, unwinding a little bit at the beaches. We will maintain a blog while we are traveling so that everybody can follow along with us on our travels.
Ten days after the wedding we are planning to fly to Vietnam, where we will spend a few days in Hanoi, as well as three days on cruise through Halong Bay, a UNESCO world heritage site outside of Hanoi. Next we will fly to Angkor Wat, in Cambodia, where we will tour the famous Angkor Wat ruins. From there we will take a river boat down to Phnom Penh, where we will spend a night. From there we will fly to Bangkok, a jumping off point to other parts in Thailand. We hope to visit some of the temples around Bangkok and then rent a car a drive to some of the beaches in Southern Thailand. Allison and I are usually not too good at sitting at the beach, so I imagine we will try to do some exploring around areas, hopefully see some wildlife or take boat rides to some of the smaller islands. From the southern Thailand city of Phuket we will fly to Kuala Lumpur. In KL we will check out some of the Malay restaurants and famous Islamic Museum. From there we will take the train down the west coast of Malaysia towards Singapore, stopping at Mallaca. We hope along the way to see a lot of local artwork and museums.
We will end in Singapore, where we will spend a night, and then head back to the U.S.
