Linda Soper & Jonathan Lowry
Hello Friends and Family!

Thank you for visiting our wedding web site! As you read about us, our relationship, and our wedding plans, you will probably notice that we are people who aren't afraid to do things a little differently.

We hope you enjoy the pictures from our first cruise!

What do you get when a Yankee Girl falls in love with a Mostly Southern Boy? You get a....
WEDDING AND a Pig Picking RECEPTION in the suburbs of Philadelphia

Hosted by: Pat Clancy (the Bride's Mother) and her roommates Helen Clancy, Kathy and Chuck Modesto (the Bride's Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle)
Where: 10 Lamont Avenue, Glenolden, PA 19036
When: May 16, 2009, 2:00 PM

Please plan on attending our wedding ceremony and enjoying some North Carolina style barbeque and some Pennsylvania Spring Breezes, in the back yard of Linda's Mom's house. We would like to honor our families and friends as we choose to become each other's family.

Mom has been working hard to find genuine Eastern Carolina Barbeque (for those of you from North of the Mason Dixon Line, Barbeque is a food not an event- sorry there won't be hot dogs and hamburgers here).

If you are coming from NC and would like to be hooked up with someone to car pool with, please let us know and we will try to get you in touch with some other northward bound guests.

Our Story

We were introduced to each other by an online dating service. Linda liked Jonathan's profile, because he described himself as a "Heart with Feet." Jonathan liked Linda's profile because she said that she hated macaroni and cheese, could pick up small objects with her feet, and had three kidneys.

After several emails back and forth in which we tried to "out geek" each other, we decided to meet each other in person. Our first date was on June 10, 2006, at the New World Coffee House in Raleigh. Linda was 15 minutes late, and Jonathan almost left. When Linda finally got there, we sat and drank coffee and talked for about 4 hours.

Two days later we went to see our first movie - Disney's "Cars." We soon discovered that we were both movie freaks, and it has remained one of our favorite things to do together. We moved in with each other a few months after we started dating.

Since we have been living together for awhile and have our home pretty much set up, we thought we would try a Honeymoon Registry rather than a traditional registry. Your wedding gift would be greatly appreciated and will go towards sending us on a honeymoon adventure we will never forget!!!

Wedding Planning Updates

2/18/2009- I got my dress last week, and it is exactly what I wanted. I tried on MANY dresses, and every time I saw my self in the mirror I just laughed. I thought I looked ridicules in everything. David's Bridal had a dress available as "on-line order only", I thought I would like it so I took a chance and ordered it. It was delivered last week one night when Jonathan was making dinner. The delivery man said to me as he handed me the box with David's Bridal written on it, "You're going to want that!" - and he couldn't have been more right. I tried it on quickly while Jonathan was finishing up dinner and I thought "Oh, this is nice... this will work." Then I tried it on again later, and I cried. For the first time in this whole thing I felt like a real Bride to Be not just a little girl playing dress up. It was pretty cool.

My Mother and her friend Pat Harris have been on a mission to find Carolina Barbeque in the Philadelphia area. They are committed to making our Pig Picking as authentic as possible. Mom has been reading through menus from Carolina Barbeque places on line. She is also planning on treating me to a pork taste testing when I able to make it home to PA to meet my brand new Niece and Nephew.

Jonathan and I have been busily hunting down email addresses for everyone and trying to get in touch with those people whose spam folders ate their e-vites to the wedding and/or Pig Picking. It has provided us with a great opportunity to get caught up with people we haven't spoken to in awhile.

I know that e-vites are not the most traditional way of inviting people to an affair like a wedding, and if Emily Post found out she would be wagging her finger at me but I never really was one for tradition. I like the idea that on E-vite invitees can see who else was invited and who is planning on attending, so if they want to team up to travel they can; plus I have an aversion to envelope glue (do you remember that Seinfeld episode?).

I will update again soon. Can't wait to the big day and the chance to see all of you!

Love Linda

2/26/2009 Update

We decided to nix the wedding ceremony on the cruise boat. Since the cruise boat crosses international lines, it is subject to several security measures and it requires a limited guess list. We didn't want to subject our friends and family to the mounting inconveniences of the security screening process, also we wanted more flexibilty on the number of people we could invite, the food that was served and even the music we could dance to. So... we changed it. The residents of 10 Lamont Avenue are tickled that the Pig Picking has been transformed into a Wedding and Pig Picking reception!

The more we think about the more we are excited! We wanted our wedding to be a celebration of family, and we know it will be.

Love Linda and Jonathan

4/26/2009 Update

The vows have been written, the tux has been ordered, the dress will be ready on Friday, and the song that we will dance to has been picked... we are 3 weeks away and VERY excited about celebrating with all of you.

After an extensive taste testing it was decided that only Genuine NC BBQ will do... so Jonathan and I are planning on picking up 50 lbs. of Wilber's Barbecue on our way up to Philly. YUM!

Mom reports that the yard is beautiful and GREEN and the pool is getting opened this weekend. (For those of you South of the Mason Dixon line Mid-May is generally not warm enough for swimming in PA- but it will look really pretty.)

Many have asked about what to wear.... We want our wedding to be a casual family event. While we will be dressing pretty formally... we want all of you to be comfortable for us. Believe me we won't be talking about you afterward if you decide to not wear a tie, or if you choose to wear flip-flops (chances are I will be sporting a pair myself under my dress before the night is out). However, if you decide on a Budweiser wife beater and cut off jeans... we may have to talk about you a little a bit (especially when we are looking at the pictures in 20 years). Think "SPRING" and you will be just fine!

Also many of you have asked if our furry family members will be at the wedding. Regrettably, it has been decided that it would be best if our beloved dog Buster and our charming ferret Neville not join us. Buster has begun to show signs of concern as if he knows "Something is Up". He curls up beside me every chance he gets and looks at me with this look that says " I know that you are planning on going away to have fun without me." Neville on the other hand remains focused on his squeaky toys. Our friends Tricia and Brian have graciously invited Buster to stay with them at their home (aka Disney Land for Dogs). We are still working on arrangements for Neville, but we are certain that we will be able to come up with something soon.

Well that is all for now... We'll see you soon!!!!!

Love Linda and Jonathan!
