Thank you so much for visiting our honeymoon registry page!

(((For our regular item registry, please visit: http://www.myregistry.com/public/jasonandchristen)))

As we said on our website, we were a little skeptical about a registry (as it seems rude to tell people what you want!), but we've been assured that guests appreciate it. Please know that your love and support over the past five years is the greatest gift we could ask for.

Our Honeymoon:
Our relationship has deep roots in Ecuador (we were working there together when we met!) and, at one point, we were convinced that we'd have our wedding in the Andes. It was actually talk of an Andean ceremony that sparked our engagement to begin with. While we decided against it, because there are just too many people in the United States with whom we wanted to share this joy, we knew--from the start--that we had to get back to the Andes for our honeymoon. To us, the Andes are the most romantic place in the world; we fell in love there. : )

But, we've never seen the Peruvian Andes, and so a lot of this will be new to us. Can't wait to tell you all about the trip, something we wouldn't be able to swing (or at least not in THIS much style) without you!

Love, love, love:
Christen & Jason

Plane toast! We have never once been that fun couple who opts for drinks on the plane; it always seemed like an added expense that just wasn't necessary. (Plus, we're usually doing work!) But we thought, what the heck? You only honeymoon once, right?
Gift Fulfilled
Champagne toast and tapas on our first night as honeymooners in Peru! In total, we've spent almost 3 months in Ecuador for teaching and writing work but we've never made it to Peru despite our saying we'd get there for almost 5 years now. Today's the day!
Gift Fulfilled
A room with a view :) We've stayed in South American cities a few times, but we've never had a balcony! We think the honeymoon is a good time to splurge, especially on la noche de numero uno!
Gift Fulfilled
Travelors' Guidebook: Cuzco and the Inca Heartland (Jason reads these from cover-to-cover whenever we go anywhere. Christen then benefits from his research!)
Gift Fulfilled
Our first dinner as honeymooners will be in Lima, where we will sit by the sea and enjoy the city's famous ceviche! (We may or may not have planned this trip around ceviche prospects! Needless to say: we can't wait for this one!)
Gift Fulfilled
A salsa dancing night out on the town in Lima. We have been prepping for this!
Gift Fulfilled
Pre-Salsa dancing cocktails (to improve both our dancing and our Spanish!)
Gift Fulfilled
One night in Cuzco's historic old town in a romantic honeymoon suite before we head out on our camping/hiking trek.
Gift Fulfilled
Breakfast for two in Lima before our flight to Cuzco for our 4-day Machu Picchu hike. This may be our last urban breakfast for a while and Bloody Marys are probably in order!
Gift Fulfilled
Flight cocktails en route to Cuzco from Lima. (Yup, we're making plane-toasts our new thing on this trip!)
Gift Fulfilled
Cuzco guided walking tour for two: There's relatively little that is certain about the great Incan empire that once stretched from Northern Argentina to Colombia. This walk aims to give a basic introduction to the capital city of this great civilization.
Gift Fulfilled
Half-day horse-back guided tour of Pumahuanca in the Incan Sacred Valley through the small archeological site of Inca Racaqniyoc. (Including transportation to the ranch and trail site.) So excited about this!!
Gift Fulfilled
Lunch and supplies for our half-day horse-back tour of Pumahuanca in the Incan Sacred Valley through the small archeological site of Inca Racaqniyoc.
Gift Fulfilled
Romantic dinner in Cuzco's historic old-town! Oh, do we love UNESCO world heritage sites! Cuzco will be our home-base for a bit, so this will really kick things off!
Gift Fulfilled
The start of the main event: Our four day hike! This gift covers day 1 en route to Machu Picchu with required tour guide, supplies, permits, transportation to the hike's start location and more.
Gift Fulfilled
Picnic lunch and supplies for day 1 of our 4-day Machu Picchu hike

Hiking Day 1 Quick Early-Morning Breakfast: We'll need the fuel!
Gift Fulfilled
Camping under the Andean stars: night one en route to Machu Picchu (Supplies, permit, tour guide) WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR THIS! : ) This opportunity is one of the reasons we decided to go with this hike and, in turn, with Peru. Que romantico!
Gift Fulfilled
On day two and four of the hike to Machu Picchu, we're having a camping breakfast picnic for two, before we're on our way again. Christen loves Andean picnics! : )
Gift Fulfilled
Hiking day two en route to Machu Picchu through the ruins of Huchuyqosqo (with hired guide, supplies, permits, etc). This is the longest most-intense hiking day of the four we've been told.
Gift Fulfilled
Picnic lunch for two and supplies for day 2 of 3-day Machu Picchu hike. On this one we have extra time to stop and relax as the lunch break is longer than day 1, so we hope to make an event out of this picnic!
Gift Fulfilled
After the completion of hiking days 1 and 2, and an evening of camping, we'll come to Agua Calientes, a village known for it's natural hot springs. This gift covers an evening dip for two at the base of Machu Picchu (including transportation to the site).
Gift Fulfilled
Gregory Denali Pro 105 Mountaineering Backpack Christen has been carrying around a no-name backpack she got at a Times Square bodega for 5 years now; it finally gave out last trip, and she's now open to more appropriate options! : )

One night at a charming Aguas Caliente inn while en route to Macchu Pichu. (C'mon, while it's romantic, camping three days in a row in the frigid Andes is a bit much!)
Gift Fulfilled
Pre-sunrise breakfast (with lots of espresso and coca tea for altitude!) en route to Machu Picchu on the fourth and final day of our trek, that which begins at 4 AM on this last hike day!
Gift Fulfilled
Extensive all-morning guided tour of Machu Picchu's temples, alters, history, and archeological sites
Gift Fulfilled
Scenic train ride for two en route back to Cuzco from Agua Calientes. Train is our favorite way to travel and we don't always get the chance to do it at home; que romantico!
Gift Fulfilled
Supplies! Cliff bars, crackers, dried fruit, beef jerky, almonds, and whatever else people need for a four day hike! Umm, why didn't we do an all-inclusive resort again??!
Gift Fulfilled
Celebratory Post-Hike Drinks. Now that we don't have to play it safe with no alcohol rules due to extreme altitude, we'll certainly be ready for a libation or two or three...
Gift Fulfilled
Andean music show FAR away from Cuzco's rowdy bar scene. We're interested in comparing the Ecuadorian Andean culture to that of the Peruvian, so this is a must.
Gift Fulfilled
Traditional Peruvian chicken rotisserie dinner (with all the sides!) will surely be one of our favorite dinners at some point during the trip! Real-deal Pio Pio, here we come! (Yeah, we have a lot of food plans, but we vow to get to them all!)
Gift Fulfilled
Night on-the-town in Cuzco. From what we hear, Cuzco has quite the artsy bar scene! We'll be checking that out, for sure! : )
Gift Fulfilled
Street empanadas (as many and as often as possible)! Most of you know that street-food (in any country) is notoriously Christen's favorite and that we'll need to budget accordingly.
Gift Fulfilled
Celebratory Post-Hike Dinner in Cuzco: We'll probably go fancy tonight and finally wear something a little nicer than our camping/ hiking clothes!
Gift Fulfilled
Christen's favorite thing: Random coffee dates!!! She hopes to squeeze in as many as possible along the way!
Gift Fulfilled
Post 4-day Hike Massage and Spa treatment in Cuzco: This will be VERY much appreciated after days straight of hiking, camping, and horse-back riding!
Gift Fulfilled
Final brunch in Peru before leaving for our teaching project in Ecuador!
Gift Fulfilled
Lomo fino cena! Our last dinner as honey-mooners will take place at our favorite Quito steakhouse. We ate here together once LONG before we ever thought we'd get married. It will be pretty romantic to go back : )
Gift Fulfilled
Textile souvenirs! We're looking to bring back some hand-woven Peruvian keepsakes for our home during the trip. : )
Gift Fulfilled
Lomo Saltado meal--a Peruvian favorite: Lomo Saltado is a fusion of Chinese and Peruvian flavors, which (in Peru) is referred to as 'Chifa' cuisine. Apparently, what makes the meal so special is the specific wine used for sauté.
Gift Fulfilled
Hiking Shoes! Many of you know that Jason recently lost one of his hiking boots in a swamp while out on a Easter Sunday "hike" through the Albany suburbs. So, yeah, now we need new hiking shoes. SIGH!
Gift Fulfilled
Day pack: Since we'll be able to leave our big bags con los burros for part of the trip (especially during parts of the hike on which we'll be on cliff edges!), we'll need a smaller bag for water, snacks, camera etc.
Gift Fulfilled
After our honeymoon, we fly to Ecuador to start a theater project. This is where we met, and we plan to return to a steakhouse we went to as a group in 2009; that dinner was the first time we realized we didn't hate each other. The rest is history!
