Thanks for visiting our honeymoon registry. We are looking forward to seeing everybody in Wilmington for the wedding this June. It will be wonderful to have you there on our special day - especially those of you who are treking across the country (or the world, as the case may be for some!).

In early August, during the one week this summer when neither of us has academic obligations, we're going to run away for our Canadian honeymoon. We'll have one week to explore the lovely province of Nova Scotia. We can't wait...and we appreciate any gifts that will help make our dream honeymoon come true!

We're going to Nova Scotia!

We've heard from many travel lovers that Canada is the perfect place to visit in August. Since neither of us have been to the Atlantic provinces, we decided to head there.

We'll start our trip by flying into Halifax, the lively port city and capital of Nova Scotia. After a few days in the city, we're going to rent a car and head east. Our next destination is Ingonish Beach on Cape Breton Island. We'll stay at the Keltic Lodge and spend our days there exploring the Cabot Trail.

Last stop is Prince Edward Island, home of Anne of Green Gables and the warmest waters north of the Carolinas. We'll fly out of Charlottetown, PEI back to Carolina del Norte.

Since Erin's idea of vacation involves massages and cozying up with a book and Joel's ideal trip includes extreme sports and non-sauna-induced sweating...this may be our first chance to compromise as a married couple :-)

Our hope is to have the time, energy, and funds to partake in a bit of both of our favorite things. Your well wishes and gifts are truly appreciated.

The first thing we're going to need: 2 plane tickets from Raleigh to Halifax!
Gift Fulfilled
Late-night snack when we arrive in Halifax after a long day of traveling (airplane food is yucky).
Gift Fulfilled
Our first stop in Halifax? The Halliburton Inn, a "boutique" hotel. Our first night we've reserved the champagne & chocolate package for honeymooners!
Gift Fulfilled
Second night in Halifax at the Halliburton Inn. No champagne and strawberries tonight but lovely just the same.
Gift Fulfilled
A hearty lunch on our first full day in Canada...anyone know of any vegetarian cafes?
Gift Fulfilled
A night of drinks in Halifax. Don't worry, we wont be throwing back drinks on our honeymoon...just a couple of glasses of fine wine.
Gift Fulfilled
The only way to leisurely explore the coast of Nova Scotia? To rent a car, usually an adventure in itself. Day 1 of driving in Canada.
Gift Fulfilled
Not fun but neccessary. This will help us cover those dreaded trips to fill up at the gas station.

Attention animal lovers! "Lola and Papa" Clancy would be appreciative if Bear & Scout could go to doggie daycare while we're gone instead of staying at their house and terrorizing Beasley (the 19 year old kittycat).
Gift Fulfilled
Rental car for day 2: Drive from Halifax all the way to those lobster claws, also known as the Cape Breton Island region.
Gift Fulfilled
We hear that it rains a lot in Atlantic Canada. We might have to go to a movie or a museum on a dreary day...actually we'll probably do that whether it's raining or not.
Gift Fulfilled
Of all the times Erin has visited the northeast coast, she has never seen a whale! We're going to go on a whale-watching expedition and hope for the best.
Gift Fulfilled
We're going to need a place to crash on our journey east to the Cape. A quaint B&B along the Northumberland shore sounds lovely.
Gift Fulfilled
The Keltic Lodge...the reason for journeying all the way to the tip of Nova Scotia's "lobster claws." We'll stay here for two nights.
Gift Fulfilled
The Keltic Lodge added an Aveda Spa in 2005...yep, that's the main draw for Erin. Let's make sure she gets a massage at the spa.
Gift Fulfilled
Joel grew up surfing on Wrightsville Beach. Now he wants to put his skills to the test on Canadian waters. He'll rent a board and have a blast...meanwhile Erin will find a book and a beer and relax (no surfing for her).
Gift Fulfilled
If we have the energy left, we're going to give the car a break and rent bicycles. Cabot Trail here we come!
Gift Fulfilled
Rental Car for Day 3: Today we're going to ride our car on the ferry to Prince Edward Island!
Gift Fulfilled
Coffee & snacks to keep us going, miscellaneous items that we forgot to pack...the little (but important) things.

Hmm...we could ditch the car and swim to Prince Edward Island. Or we could just be wimps and take the ferry.

Last day of driving the rental car. Hopefully no accident to report!
Gift Fulfilled
Our last night in Canada.

Ok, now we need to get home (even though we won't want to go home). We're flying out of Charlottestown, Prince Edward Island back to boring old North Cackalackey. Don't you feel bad for us?
